This page explains when we give money back and how to ask for it. It forms part of our terms of service. Nothing here takes away a right you have in law, and where the law gives you more, the law wins.
1. The short version
- The Starter plan is free, so there is nothing to refund.
- Every paid plan starts with 14 days free. Cancel before they end and you are never charged.
- If you are a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of subscribing and get back anything you have paid.
- After that, you can cancel whenever you like. You keep access until the end of the month you have paid for, and you are not charged again.
- If we charged you by mistake, or Beamwise did not work as we said it would, we put it right, which can include a refund.
2. Free trial
New accounts get the paid features free for 14 days, with no card needed. When you subscribe to a paid plan, the first 14 days of that subscription are also free. Your first payment is taken when the free period ends. If you cancel before then, from the Billing page or by emailing us, no payment is taken at all.
3. Consumers: your 14-day right to cancel
If you use Beamwise wholly or mainly outside a trade, business or profession, as many private landlords do, you can cancel within 14 days of subscribing to a paid plan without giving a reason. That right comes from the Consumer Rights Act 2022 in the Republic of Ireland and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 in Northern Ireland.
Because those 14 days are free, cancelling in time normally costs nothing. If you have been charged anything for that period, we refund it in full. Use our cancel contract here page or email info@beamwise.co.uk. Section 7 of the terms has the details and a model wording you can use if you wish.
4. Cancelling after the first 14 days
Subscriptions are monthly and are charged in advance. When you cancel, we stop the next payment, and you keep full access until the end of the month you have already paid for. We do not refund the unused part of a month you cancel partway through, and there is no fee for cancelling. Your records stay available to export, as section 11 of the terms explains.
5. Changing plan
If you move to a bigger or smaller plan partway through a month, the price is adjusted for the days left in that month. Moving up adds the difference to your next invoice. Moving down leaves a credit on your account that comes off your next invoices. That credit is not paid out as cash, except where section 6 applies or you close your account with credit left, in which case ask us and we will refund it.
6. When we will refund you
We refund you, in full or in part as the case needs, when:
- we charged you in error, for example twice for the same month, the wrong amount, or in the wrong currency;
- we charged you after you had cancelled, or after the end of a free period you cancelled within;
- you told us, within the notice period, that you did not accept a price rise or a change to our terms, and we charged you the new price anyway;
- we removed a feature in a way that materially reduced what you pay for, and you ended your subscription because of it;
- Beamwise did not work as we described it and we could not put that right within a reasonable time. For a consumer, that is a right in law, and the refund or price reduction reflects how far the service fell short.
We look at anything else case by case. If something went wrong, tell us; we would rather sort it out than argue about it.
7. Payments that fail
If a payment fails, we tell you and give you time to fix it. If it stays unpaid, your account moves back to the free plan and nothing more is charged. Your records are not deleted because a payment failed.
8. How to ask for a refund
Email info@beamwise.co.uk with the email address on your account, the date and amount of the payment, and a line about what happened. We reply within 5 working days. Once we agree a refund, we send it within 14 days, back to the card or account you paid with and in the same currency. Your bank may then take a further 5 to 10 working days to show it.
Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. A chargeback usually takes longer than asking us directly.
9. If you are not happy with our answer
Section 14 of the terms explains how we handle complaints. If you are a consumer, you can get free advice from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (ccpc.ie) in the Republic of Ireland, or Consumerline (consumerline.org) in Northern Ireland.
